What is an All-Mailed ballot Election?
An election where all ballots are mailed and returned by mail. There will be no polling places. All registered voters will receive a Vote by Mail (VBM) ballot in the mail.
When is the Election?
Tuesday, August 26, 2025. You may submit your completed ballot anytime after you receive your VBM ballot.
What is on the ballot?
The election is for one general tax ordinance to be submitted to the qualified voters that imposes a general sales tax at the rate of 1/4-cent per dollar. The ballot measure title is Measure CL.
What would the ballot measure do?
If approved, Measure CL would provide funding for general City services including: maintaining three fully staffed fire stations/ 911 emergency response times; retaining firefighters, paramedics, police officers; homeless reduction services/ encampment prevention; improving parks/ fields; repairing potholes/ streets/ storm drains; senior/ youth services and other General Fund uses, by enacting a ¼ cent sales tax, providing approximately $5,600,000 annually until ended by voters. This also requires all funds be locally controlled with audits and public spending disclosures.

What is a spoiled ballot?
A spoiled ballot is a ballot that cannot be counted because it was cast in a way that doesn't follow the rules. For example, incorrect marking, damaged ballot, or marking for identification.

How do I track my ballot?
Ballot tracking services are unavailable for this election. To check the status of your VBM ballot, please contact the City Clerk’s Office by phone (310) 253-5851 or by e-mail at elections@culvercity.org.
I received a Signature Verification Letter, what do I do?
Follow the instructions on the letter and return it to the City Clerk’s Office by 5:30 PM, at least two days prior to the certification of the election.

Can I watch the processing of ballots on Election night?
Yes. The public is welcome to observe the process in person in the Mike Balkman Council Chambers located at City Hall. The processing of ballots will also be livestreamed on the City’s Meetings and Agendas website and on the Culver City YouTube Channel.
When will the election results be announced?
The election results are expected to be certified at the September 8, 2025, Regular meeting of the City Council.
