Experience Sandhi, a traditional Kathak solo by celebrated choreographer and performer Rukhmani Mehta along with acclaimed musical artists Jayanta Banerjee on sitar and Salar Nader on tabla.
Drawing inspiration from the Sanskrit concept of sandhi — which describes a meeting point where opposing energies intertwine and boundaries blur - Mehta explores how the traditional kathak solo is itself such a meeting point.
The performance invites audiences into the dualities that give kathak dance its vitality- tradition, history and the present moment; the multiplicity of human expression and divine oneness; the collective story of a people and the individual voice of an artist.
In Sandhi, artist and audience go on a shared journey of dance, music, rhythm and storytelling, exploring the liminal spaces where dualities converge and give way to transformation and transcendence.
