Culver CityBus has been selected as the 2025 Transit Agency of the Year by the California Transit Association (CTA). This statewide award honors a transit agency that demonstrates outstanding performance in service delivery, innovation, and community impact.

This recognition marks the second time in five years that Culver CityBus has received this honor, following its first award in 2020. The achievement reflects the dedication of the Transportation Department team and the continued leadership and support of the Culver City City Council.

“Culver CityBus continues to set the standard for what a modern public transit system can be," said Mayor Dan O'Brien. "This statewide recognition reflects the dedication of our Transportation Department and the effort they put in year-round. I am proud of the work being done to ensure mobility in Culver City is easy, safe, and equitable for everyone.”

Culver CityBus, founded in 1928 with a single vehicle, has grown into a modern, community-focused transit agency that operates 50 renewable compressed natural gas buses and 4 battery-electric buses. The agency remains committed to delivering clean, safe, and accessible transportation for residents, workers, and visitors.

“This recognition belongs to our incredible employees and the communities we proudly serve,” said Chief Transportation Officer Diana Chang. “It reflects the care, passion, and teamwork that drive us every day as we build a cleaner, more connected, and more equitable future for mobility in Culver City and beyond.”

The 2025 award acknowledges several key accomplishments, including:

  • Advancing sustainable and innovative mobility through citywide initiatives that enhance safety, comfort, reliability, and the overall travel experience.
  • Expanding access and equity through programs such as the GoPass Program for K through 14 students and the Line 99 SoFi Express, which improves regional connectivity to major events.
  • Providing regional leadership in preparation for major events including the 2028 Olympics, and strengthening partnerships across Los Angeles County to support mobility planning.
  • Achieving operational excellence, reflected in top performances by Culver CityBus operators at the 2025 Five Star Roadeo, the 2025 Regional Roadeo, and the 2025 APTA International Roadeo.
  • Investing in workforce development through the Intern Cohort Program and Employee Wellness Initiatives.
  • Implementing the Automated Bus Lane Enforcement system to improve safety, accessibility, and service reliability.

This distinction underscores Culver CityBus’s role as a small but highly impactful agency and reaffirms the City’s commitment to equity, sustainability, and community-centered mobility.
