Project Overview

The Public Works Department Engineering Division is mobilizing for the Veteran's Memorial Park Parking Lot Pavement Rehabilitation Projec (Project).

The Veteran's Memorial Park Pavement Rehabilitation Project will involve removing 2 to 3 inches of deteriorated asphalt concrete at various locations in parking lots in and around Veterans Park and then repaving or adding new rubberized asphalt concrete (resurfacing). Damaged curb, gutter, and sidewalks will be replaced where necessary. Parking lots will be restriped following resurfacing.

Located along Culver Boulevard between Overland Avenue and Elenda Street are five city owed parking lots originally constructed in the 1980's to service the Veteran’s Memorial Building and Veteran's Memorial Park. These well used parking lots are maintained regularly by Public Works street crews but the surface has degraded over time and they are now in needed of resurfacing. Two of the parking lots between Coombs Avenue and Elenda Street were resurfaced with slurry seal in 2025. In 2026, the City will resurface with slurry seal the remaining parking lots along Culver Boulevard. With application of the slurry seal treatment, the City anticipates extending usable surface life of these parking lots for an additional 10-15 years.

The City will also resurface the parking lot adjacent to the Teen Center. The Teen Center is located on Overland Avenue between the Veteran's Memorial Building and Culver City Pool. The Teen Center parking lot hasn’t been resurfaced since its original construction in the 1960's. Due to extensive asphalt pavement damage from tree roots and long-term usage, a deeper grind and full paving of the parking lot is recommended.
