Small Business Assistance Programs

Platform Business

The City approved two small business assistance programs in October 2025.  The programs provide tools for Culver City's small businesses to ensure their long term success.

The Jumpstart Permit Reimbursement Fund

The Jumpstart Fund is a program that helps new Culver City small businesses by reimbursing up to $5,000 of City permit fees. The program will be launched in two phases with $25,000 in each phase. Eligibility Requirements

  • Small business must be operating from a commercial brick and mortar space within the boundaries of the City of Culver City.
  • Be majority owned and managed by the applicant.
  • In compliance with city and county regulations and not involved in legal action with the City. 


Ineligible businesses

No office, home-based, medical, educational, political, religious, or other business/institution will participate in the Launch Fund.  Businesses selling merchandise to fund-raise or as an ancillary use are not eligible. Businesses that sell products, goods, and services related to adult themes, smoking, firearms, alcohol (as the primary use), or cannabis are not eligible to participate in the program.   Additionally, no business with passive income, such as landlords, corporate-owned franchises, as well as businesses that do not have a physical location. 


Application Process

Applications will be processed on a first come first serve basis.  

PART 1

  • Submit online application
  • Copy of lease agreement showing applicant’s or business name and address
  • Invoice of permit fees from Planning and Building Department

PART 2

  • Upon receipt of complete application and submittal information, staff will confirm receipt of complete information.
  • When information has been confirmed, applicant will be contacted by Economic Development staff regarding approval and will coordinate with Building/ Planning/ Finance staff to waive applicable permit fees. 

Timing and Process

The Program will launch in March 2026. Applications will be processed on a first come, first serve basis until the funds are depleted.

 

 

Small Business Catalyst Program 

A technical assistance and advising program in partnership with PCR Business Finance/ Small Business Development Center (SBDC) that will include a four-month cohort program featuring workshops and advising to support small businesses with tools to succeed in today's business climate.
