The Planning and Development Department is responsible for guiding, monitoring, and facilitating land use development within Culver City. The three divisions that make up the Department include: Current Planning, Advanced Planning and Building & Safety.

Earthquake Retrofit Grant Program Opens August 19

Announcing an important funding opportunity for Culver City Property Owners of eligible multi-unit residential properties:

The Earthquake Multi-Unit Retrofit (EMR) Program, administered by the California Residential Mitigation Program (CRMP), provides grants of up to $49,600 to help retrofit eligible soft-story apartment buildings, improving safety and reducing the risk of damage during future earthquakes.

Senate Bill (SB) 79 in Culver City

Senate Bill 79 was signed by Governor Newsom on October 10, 2025 became effective in July 2026. City staff is analyzing the impacts of the bill on Culver City.
