Project Overview

This ongoing annual project maintains and improves City streets. The scope of work generally consists of removing and replacing 2 to 3 inches of deteriorated asphalt concrete with new rubberized asphalt concrete. Damaged adjacent curbs and gutters are replaced where necessary. This project prioritizes locations needing resurfacing based on the lowest pavement condition index ratings in the Pavement Management Report, an assessment completed every three years. If the project is not completed, the identified streets will continue to deteriorate, requiring ongoing emergency maintenance and increasing future improvement costs.

This project will improve 12,944 linear feet of roadway.

The following streets are identified currently for improvement:

  • Playa Ct between South End/City Limits to Playa St
  • Corryne Pl between South End/City Limits to Slauson Ave

Related Projects

This project is being managed in conjunction with other paving and pavement resurfacing projects, including:

Veteran’s Memorial Parking Lot & Teen Center Parking Lot Resurfacing, PA008

This project will resurface three Veterans Park parking lots, the Teen Center parking lot, and the parking lot adjacent to the Wende Museum, a total of 107,000 square feet, including tree root trimming or possible tree removal, localized dig outs for severely damaged areas, AC slurry seal, and re-striping of all five parking lots. City will resurface the Teen Center Parking Lot - 10,000 square feet, including grind and overlay ($100,000), and re-stripe the remaining Veterans Park Parking Lots (3 lots) - 58,000 square feet, including pavement repair, slurry seal, and re-striping ($350,000).

Minor Pavement Repair, PZ554

This annual project funds minor repairs to damaged pavement and concrete on City streets and alleys, as needed, including damage caused by severe weather, emergencies, and other factors. Pavement failures are identified by staff and reported by residents. These repairs help maintain safe and usable roadways and prevent further deterioration. Local returns and gas tax funded.

  • Harter Avenue between Culver Boulevard and Wagner Street, 11106 Culver Blvd, Culver City, CA 90230
  • Moore Street at Washington Boulevard, 12796 Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90066
  • 12337 W Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90066
  • 12470 Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90066
  • 13220 W Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90066, Bus Stop
  • 11181 Washington Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232 (west bound approach lanes at Sepulveda Blvd)

Alley Improvements, PZ295

This annual project will improve alleys throughout Culver City by repairing existing paved alleys and newly paving dirt and/or compacted gravel alleys. Resurfacing will make alleys safer and easier to use for residents, businesses, and City services, improving driving conditions and reducing dust and flooding during heavy rains. This work will also reduce the need for frequent maintenance. JPA funded for FY 26-27. Future funding expected from tax funds or potential grants.

Currently, Culver City has 2.4 miles of unpaved alleys (compacted gravel and/or dirt) and 4.0 miles of paved alleys requiring resurfacing. For FY 26-27, two gravel alleys in the Tri-School area have been selected:

  • Alley north of Elenda Street, between Farragut Drive and Franklin Street
  • Alley north of Elenda Street, between Garfield Avenue and Braddock Drive

Other Paving Projects

Project funding also shared with PS005-FH street improvements in Fox Hills, to be completed in coordination with Safer Fox Hills Project PZ923, and PS005-S street improvements along Sepulveda Blvd, to be completed in coordination with Sepulveda Connects Project PS017.
