Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival presents "Encore!"

Five performers of the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival (LAWTF) return for an encore performance.

Pre-show reception in the garden starting at 6 p.m. Admission is Free. Donations accepted.

Katie Chin will perform an excerpt from her solo show "Holy Shitake! A Wok Star Is Born."  Raised by a seamstress mother turned successful and well-known chef, Katie follows in her mother’s footsteps to also become a Wok Star in the culinary world.

Vanessa Hernandez Cruz performs her dance piece "Metal. Plastic. Skin."  This piece explores how vulnerability fatigue impacts Vanessa’s experiences as a woman with a disability, and how medical equipment has been a form of freedom, survival, and assimilation in this inaccessible world.

Sarai Hicks performs "For You." Youth dancer Sarai Hicks is inspired to create beauty through dance.

Marissa Mahoney in "SMILE."  This dance piece explores the daily masks of happiness we wear, while wrestling with the inner voices that chip away at our confidence.

Rheagan Wallace performs an excerpt from her solo show "Stage Mama: From Child Star to Leading Lady." This piece reveals the resilience forged within a complex mother-daughter relationship in the entertainment business and celebrates the enduring spirit of women.

This program is hosted by Terrie Silverman and Jenny Cadena. Ms. Silverman is a writer, director, dramaturg, solo performer and the founder of Creative Rites. Ms. Cadena is the Associate Producer of the Robey Theatre Company, and a recent Stage Raw Award winner for her performance in "The Great Lover."

The Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival celebrates artistic diversity through the production of traditional and innovative performances and educational outreach. The annual festival honors the achievements of extraordinary women around the world.
