Fiber Fun for All Ages! Southern California Handweavers’ Guild Presents the 2025 Weaving & Fiber Festival in Culver City

The Southern California Handweavers’ Guild (SCHG) invites the public to a day of creativity, color, and craft at its annual Weaving & Fiber Festival (WeFF 2025) on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Teen Center.

In a time when digital screens dominate our lives, WeFF 2025 offers a tactile, hands-on respite—a chance to slow down, touch fibers, spin a yarn (literally), watch a shuttle fly, and connect with a community of makers. Whether you’re looking for inspiration, materials, a gift, or simply a fresh way to engage your creativity, this festival is designed to welcome novices and experts alike.

Key Highlights of the Festival Include:

  • Try Your Hand! The festival features live demonstrations of various fiber crafts, with opportunities for the public to try out different types of looms and techniques.
  • Unique Shopping: A curated selection of top fiber-arts vendors will be on site, offering luscious hand-dyed yarns, spinning fibers, and specialized weaving equipment.
  • Members’ Boutique: Find gorgeous, one-of-a-kind handwoven items like scarves, towels, and placemats—perfect for holiday gifts—in the SCHG Members’ Boutique.
  • The Famous Weftover Sale: Crafters can hunt for bargains on used yarn, equipment, books, and other supplies in the popular “Weftover” section.
  • Free SCHed Talks: A lineup of free afternoon talks on diverse fiber-related subjects. Topics include using farm yarn, the history and structure of kente cloth, Navajo tapestry weaving, and more.
  • Silent Auction and Raffle featuring looms, spinning equipment, yarns, gift certificates, and more. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Raffle is at noon and winners must be present to collect their prizes.
  • Inspiring Displays: View inspiring handwoven works created by Guild members in the annual Guild Displays.
  • Free, family-friendly workshops: “Kids make llama looms” (10:15 and 2:30) and “Weave a bookmark” (1:00)
  • Introduction to Kumihimo Braiding afternoon workshop (separate registration required through Eventbrite)
