Valley of the Prophets

Valley of the Prophets Rotunda floor

Situated in the Valley of the Prophets grand mausoleum, these artworks comprise a concrete rotunda floor marked in concentric circles of varying colors, and four stained glass windows. The middle floor circle contains the Hebrew words: Zachor, L’dor, V’dor, which translates to remembrance from generation to generation. The glass windows adorn four family rooms behind the rotunda, and incorporate themes of the natural world: day and night, sustenance and solace, fluidity and continuity. They feature an integrated glass frame and a sacred circle.

Gross worked closely with Elizabeth Deveraux Architectural Glass. Gross’s synagogue projects have received numerous awards from the American Institute of Architects and The Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture. The work is heavily inspired by Jewish tradition, and Gross’s fine art work has been exhibited at many Jewish museums nationally. Laurie Gross Studios are based in Santa Barbara.
